Protecting High-Traffic Areas During Construction
High-traffic areas like hallways, entrances, living rooms, and kitchens are always at risk for damage during construction projects. Even if your team is exceptionally careful, there is a chance that they could drop a heavy object on the client’s floors or bump into a wall. Depending on the type of floors you are working around, the volume of foot traffic alone could cause serious damage.
Fortunately, there are several simple and effective ways to protect high-traffic areas during construction. Here are a few tried and true solutions.
Protecting Hard Floors and Carpets
Protecting hard floors is as easy as rolling down some floor protection boards and securing each section with painter’s tape. Doing so creates a layer of protection resistant to paint and dirt that will keep your client’s floors looking great.
If you are working around carpets, laying down some protective carpet film will create a protective barrier that keeps out dirt, pain, debris, and dust. You can leave them down for up to 45 days, and they do not leave behind any adhesive residue, making for an easy cleanup.
Preventing Paint Spills
Floor protection boards will stop most paint spills. However, you must also cover other sensitive surfaces, such as baseboards, countertops, cabinets, and furniture, to protect high-traffic areas. Using a plastic film will provide adequate protection for most surfaces. But make sure to seal all seams and edges with high-quality tape.
